CorrectionsIf we have got something wrong, tell us
This site publishes licence numbers, company names and dates. Details of that kind go out of date quietly, and occasionally we will simply make a mistake. Either way we would rather hear it from a reader than leave it standing.
How to report an error
Email editor@reeloutlookuk.com with:
- the page it appears on;
- the sentence or figure you believe is wrong;
- what you understand the correct position to be;
- where that can be checked, if you know.
For anything touching a licence, a licensee name, a licence number or a declared domain, the Gambling Commission's register of gambling businesses settles the question in minutes. Pointing us at the register entry is the fastest way to get a fix made.
What happens next
We check the claim against the register or the operator's own published pages, not against our own notes. If it stands up, we change the page. If we cannot confirm it either way, we remove the disputed detail rather than leave something we can no longer support, because an absent fact is less harmful than a doubtful one.
We do not operate a response-time guarantee, because a small editorial team cannot honestly promise one. We do read every message, and licence and safety issues go to the front of the queue.
How corrections are shown
Straightforward updates — a refreshed date, a licence field re-checked — are made in place, and the review date at the foot of the page changes with them. Where a correction alters the substance of something a reader might have acted on, such as a licensee name, a licence number or a score, we say on the page what changed and when. We do not quietly rewrite a judgement and leave the original date in place.
Complaints that are not corrections
If your issue is with an operator rather than with something we have written — a withdrawal, a voided bonus, a closed account, a verification check — we cannot resolve it, because we have no access to any gambling account. Raise it in writing with the operator first; if that fails, the operator must tell you which alternative dispute resolution provider handles its complaints, and that service is free to you. Our contact page explains the route.
The kinds of error we most often need to fix
- A licence number, account number or licensee name that has changed hands or been re-issued.
- A brand that has moved to a different licensed company, or a domain that is no longer declared to the regulator.
- A licensed activity added to or removed from an operator's account.
- A site observation — a live casino section, a limit tool, a support link — that no longer matches the site after a redesign.
- An outbound link that has stopped resolving to the operator's authorised address.
